15 Insider Cruise Ship
Employment Profiles

To get a cruise ship employment focus only on the 15 major cruise lines because they offer 97% from all cruise ship jobs and that's why are the only ones worth your attention and application efforts.

Each one of them has specific history, star rating and type of guests, requirements and expectations from the staff. That's why to get a cruise line employment you must select the most appropriate one or two for you and concentrate on them.

If you follow stupid advice such as to write a "one size fit all" type of resume and cover letter, "make 300 copies and send them to every cruise line and agency" the chances are that you will spend $100+ and will wait 2-3 months before realizing that the result is zero.

If mass mailing was effective method for getting a cruise ship employment you were NOT going to hear and read online that it is very tough to go on a cruise ship. With the severe competition 100-1000 applicants for each open position if you send a non-specific and standard cover letter and resume they will go to the trash within seconds from opening them.

Why? Because they can interview by phone maximum 3-5 people. Usually these are expensive, international or long distance calls. So 95-995 of the applications for a position must go to the trash soon or later!

How to make sure that your application will make it through the first cut?

First the applications are screened, which takes 3-5 seconds. A person in the cruise line’s Human Resources take a quick look from up to down of your cover letter or resume. If they are interested and see what they want to see your application goes on a pile for a second, detailed review. Otherwise it goes directly to the trash.

Which 3 questions must answer immediately your application to survive the screening process?

Are you applying for a specific cruise ship job?

You have to state this in what The Professional Association of Resume Writers refers to as “Focus Statement”.

Is this "one size fit all" type of resume or cover letter?

If there is nothing red-hot relevant to the specific cruise line it is addressed than you know already it goes in the trash. That’s why is a must to mention at least 2-3 times the name of the cruise line and put it is bold, so during the screening they will see it.

Is it visually pleasing and easy to read?

Each screener has to review very often more than 100 applications in addition to other Human Resources duties. That’s why they will NOT strain their tired eyes with resume or cover letter, which looks strange or is difficult to read.

Select the most 1-2 for you cruise lines below and focus your eforts towards them.
