Requirements:
At least 2-4 years of experience in related position onboard.
Graduation diploma from accredited maritime school plus all applicable certificates and licenses.
Responsibilities:
Ensure maintenance of all electrical devises on board the vessel.
Provide electrical support to the Engine Room Team.
Repair and maintain electrical equipment such as generators, motors, alternators, and intercommunication systems aboard ship.
Perform routine tests to ensure that electric motors are driving pumps, blowers, and refrigerating machinery.
Test wiring for short circuits using voltmeter and ammeter.
Move controls at distribution board (switchboard) to maintain electrical load within capacity of generators.
Starts standby generator when load nears capacity of operating generator.
Replaces and cleans commutator brushes.
May remove and replace fuses and defective lights.
